Tholian Shipyards (R7)

NOTE: On some SSDs the fighter/shuttles have shaded boxes, these represent the crippled the status of the fighter/shuttle.
NOTE: On some SSDs the crew check-off boxes have a 'B' or 'D' in them, these represent the crew units that are Boarding Parties or Deck Crews.

DREADNOUGHT HULLS

(R7P.101) HEAVY CARRIER (DVA): The Tholians were never satisfied with their CVA. While it carried two full squadrons of fighters it never had the weapons to engage the C8V. Plans were drawn up to convert one of their dreadnought hulls to a heavy carrier. As was done with their CVA the fighters were housed in external bays making for quick launch and recovery. Records seem to indicate only a single such conversion was done. The fighter group was a squadron of S-IIIs and a squadron of S-IIs. The ship was also capable of carrying MRS shuttles. The escort group was a CWA and two PCEs.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10(12)/5(6). Command rating 10. Can be converted from a D once per year beginning in Y179 and later. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of the fighters. Counters for both the single ship and the 4DVA group are provided.

(R7P.102) SPACE CONTROL SHIP (SCS): When the Klingons began operating their C8S Space Control Ship the Tholians became concerned as they had nothing to match it. Determined to build such a ship the Tholians either converted a D or their DVA (here available records are unclear). One group of analysts are convinced they used the DVA, while another contend they used a D hull. The ship operated a squadron of S-IIIs and a full flotilla of Arachnid PFs, and could also operate MRS shuttles. The ship could repair all six PFs at the same time using specially built bays. The escort group was a CWA and two PCEs.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10(6P)/5(3P). Command rating 10. Can be converted from a D once per year beginning in Y182 and later. Cost is 5 EPs. Cost to convert 4DVA to 4SCS is 5 EP. Counters for both the single ship and the 4SCS group are provided.

(R7D.103) LIGHT DREADNOUGHT (DL): This was an attempt by the Tholians to produce a improved Dreadnought. Using the borrowed technology from the Federation they produced this design, which they called a Fast DN but the Federation referred to as a Light DN. Some within the Holdfast could see no need for a ship of this kind, but, in the end, however, some important and influential members of the Holdfast demanded such a ship. Only a single such ship was produced and records indicate it may have been part of the Tholian forces send to Operation Unity.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10 F/5. Command rating 9. Has 7 movement points. Can be substituted for DN once Y177. Can have a maximum of one in service at any one time. A counter is provided.

BATTLECRUISER HULLS

(R7001) BATTLE CRUISER (BCH): After the CW entered production, the Tholians applied the same technique that they used to create the C, CA, CVA and CC to it. The resulting ship was the BCH. It entered service in Y181. In Y184 it was given a web caster and classified BCW. Some ships were completed as BCV Battle Carriers and BCS Battle Control Ships.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10/5. Command rating 10. Can be substituted for CA or DN once per year in Y181 and later. A counter is provided.

(R7008) HEAVY PHOTON BATTLECRUISER (BCP) At least one BCH was equipped with photon torpedoes in place of disruptors. In Y184 it was given a web caster and classified BPW. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a BCH and no counter is provided.

(R7P.201) BATTLE CARRIER (BCV): The second heavy battle cruiser was completed as a battle carrier in Y182. Curiously, it appears that it never received web casters. The ship normally operated S-III fighters, but the external bays could also be configured to carry either S-II or S-IIP as well. The ship is capable of operating MRS shuttles. The escort group was a CWA and a DE. SSD modified Jan 2011.

F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10(6)/5(3). Command rating 10. Can be substituted for CA or DN once per year in Y182 and later. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of the fighters. Counters for both the single ship and the 3BCV group are provided.

(R7P.202) BATTLE CONTROL SHIP (BCS): There is some confusion surrounding this ship. Some believe it was built on a third heavy battle cruiser hull, while others believe it was a modification of the Battle Carrier. Opponents of the conversion idea cite the short interval between the two ships, while proponents of the concept point to the fact that neither the BVC or the BCS had web casters. As the ships were rarely seen outside the Holdfast the debate continues without an answer. The ship was thought to operate S-III fighters, but many believe the external bays could also be configured to carry either S-II or S-IIP as well. The ship is capable of operating MRS shuttles. The escort group was a CWA and a DE. SSD modified Jan 2011.

F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10(3)P/5(1)P. Command rating 10. Can be substituted for CA or DN once per year in Y184 and later. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of the fighters and PFs. Counters for both the single ship and the 3BCS group are provided.

(R7010) HEAVY PF BATTLECRUISER (BCA) Following the Lyran’s example, some BCH class ships were modified to carry a full flotilla of Arachnid PFs after Y182.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10P/5P. Command rating 9. One BCH per year can be converted to a BCA in the Spring of Y183. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7013) HEAVY PHOTON PF BATTLECRUISER (BAP) One BCA class ship was observed in Y184 equipped with photon torpedoes. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a BCA and no counter is provided.

HEAVY CRUISER HULLS

(R7M.308) FAST CRUISER (CFN): When the Holdfast learned of the Klingons fast cruiser, they decided to match it. One of the CAs then undergoing conversion was halted and plans were made to turn it into a fast cruiser. The Tholians encountered a host of problems trying to "shoehorn" the 6 small PC engines in the CA hull, and it appears these problems forced the cancellation of further conversions. The single example of this ship began its tour of duty in the fall of Y179.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-8(F)/4. Command rating 8. Can build one CFN per year by substitution. Cost is 9 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.310) FAST SCOUT CRUISER (FSC): Although the Tholians never built a fast scout cruiser, a design for one based on their heavy cruiser existed. This ship, according to its designers would have been used to scout parts of both the Klingon and Romulan Empires for suitable worlds to "colonize". The planners envisioned the ship entering service in mid 182.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-8(F)u/2-4. Command rating 8. (4EW:2AF)(1EW:4AF). Can build one CFS per year by conversion of a CFN. Cost is 5 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.312) STRIKE CARRIER (CVS): This ship was designed in competition with the CVA. It initially lost in the design stages, but when the Tholians felt pressured by events in the General War a single CA was converted to the design. The ship operated 6 S-II and 6 S-III fighters. It was configured that it could operated S-IIPs as well. It is also capable of operating MRS shuttles, but they were not included in its normal shuttle complement. Escorts were a CWE and a DE.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-8(6)/4(3). Command rating 8. Can build by substitution or conversion one CVS per year. Cost of conversion is 2 EP plus the cost of the fighters. Counters for both the CVS and the 3CVS are provided.

(R7P.315) SURVEY CRUISER (SR): In Y182 as it looked like the General War was turning against the Coalition, the Tholians, with an eye on expanding the Holdfast designed this ship. Its purpose was to explore nearby Klingon and Romulan space, which the Tholians thought would be "overlooked", or at least "under defended" by the Klingons and Romulans due to the large scale Alliance attacks.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-8u/2-4. Command rating 8. Can be substituted for CA or converted from CA once per year beginning in the Fall of Y182. Cost of conversion is 5 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.320) AREA CONTROL SHIP (ACS): As reports reached the Holdfast of the new Area Control ships Tholian engineers began to plan such a design for themselves. The plans called for modifying a CVA by joining half the external bays to operate the heavy Spider-Vs. A pair of special sensors were added. A single ship of this design entered service in Y180, but it cannot be determined if this was a modification of the CVA or and entirely new ship. It was observed operating with a CWA and a PCA.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-8(8H6)u/2-4(4H3). Command rating 9. EW = 2. Cost is 10 EP plus fighters, can be substituted for a CA in SY180. Can be converted from a CVA for 3 EP, or from a CA for 5 EP. This ship has two separate fighter squadrons, one heavy of 8 factors and one standard of 6 factors which must operate as separate squadrons. Counters for both the ACS and the 3ACS are provided.

(R7D.321) DIVISION CONTROL SHIP (DCS): Hardly had the plans for the ACS been finalized than the word of Division Control Ships reached the Holdfast sending the Tholian engineers back to the drawing board. Construction began almost immediately and the finished ship entered service in Y181. It is not known if the ship was converted from a CVA, the ACS or built as new construction. It has been reported operating with a CWA and PCA as escorts.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-8(6)Pu/2-4(3)P. Command rating 9. EW = 2. Cost is 13 EP plus fighters, can be substituted for a CA in SY181. Can be converted from a CVA or CA/CC for 5 EP. Counters for both the DCS and the 3DCS are provided.

(R7D.330) TUG (TGA): When the Klingons attacked the Federation the Tholians became worried that they were next on the Klingons agenda. The Tholians converted one of their cruisers to a tug. It was felt that this would allow a speed up in the process of bolstering the defenses of the Holdfast. Only a single such ship was built. The ship can carry a single weight pod or a single Pack without effecting its movement cost or turn mode. Carrying two Pods or two Packs increases the movement cost to 1 and the turn mode to C.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-8T/1-4. Command rating 8. Can convert one CA to TGA in Fall of Y172. Cost is 3 EP. Can only operate one tug. Can carry two Packs of any type. Carrying a Pack does not increase the Command Rating. The Battle Pack cost is 4 EP and the Phaser Pack is 3 EP. Counters for the TGA, the Battle and Phaser Packs are provided.

(R7D.331) COMBAT TUG (TGB): This ship was detailed in a memo leaked to the Romulans from a Tholian undercover agent. The memo stated that in Y178 a TGA damaged during an encounter with the Klingons was put into "dry dock" for repairs. During repairs the Tholians decided to upgrade it with a set of the larger warp engines they recently acquired from the Federation. Additional firepower was added. The ship was then to have re-entered service in the Fall of Y179. The ship can carry a single weight pod or a single Pack without effecting its movement cost or turn mode. Carrying two Pods or two Packs increases the movement cost to 1-1/3 and the turn mode to C. In Y183 the ship was to have received the Snare refit.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-8T/1-4. Command rating 8. Can convert one CA to TGB in Fall of Y179.

(R7P.380) MAULER CRUISER (TKM): Shortly after the introduction of the D6M, the Klingons conducted a series of raids on the Tholian home world to test its combat capability. In one on the raids, a D6M was trapped in the Web and all attempts by the Klingons to pull it free failed. After the Klingons were driven off the Tholians recovered the D6M but found the boom so badly damaged it had to be scrapped. After several years the Tholians finally managed to mate a modified PC to it. After the arrival of the Neo-Tholians the ship was re-fitted with Snares.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10-8/4. Command rating 8. Conversion cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.399) SUPER HEAVY CRUISER (SCA): The Tholians learned of Romulan plans for the Killerhawk, and began plans for a super heavy cruiser of their own. The introduction of their X cruisers caused the project to be cancelled before any ships of this design could be built.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 12-10(S)/5. Command rating 9. Can be substituted for CC (once per year) beginning in Y183. Cost is 2 EP. A counter is provided.

The Destroyer Engine Project

The Tholians found that their basic cruiser, which used four of the small PC warp engines, and had proved adequate for repelling the occasional Klingon raids. When the Klingons began launching major attacks it Y177 the inadequacies of the design became all too apparent. Unable to either produce larger engines or increase production of the larger DD engines, the Tholians appealed to the Federation for help. The Federation, fighting a two-front war was unable to help. It was then that the Neo-Tholians arrived. With their help the Tholians were able to over come the production problems of the DD engines and increased production. They quickly made plans to refit a number of their ships replacing two of the PC engines with two of the DD engines.

(R7M.402) IMPROVED (CA) HEAVY CRUISER (CAN): This is the CA with the 2 PC and 2 DD style engines. The first one to enter service was completed in spring of Y179. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a CA and no counter is provided.

(R7M.403) IMPROVED (CC) COMMAND CRUISER (CCN): The first of the new engined CCs entered service in the fall of Y179. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a CC, and no counter is provided.

(R7M.404) IMPROVED (CAP) PHOTON HEAVY CRUISER (CAPN): The photon armed variant of the new engined CA. One was also completed in the fall of Y180. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a CA and no counter is provided.

(R7P.540) NEW STRIKE CARRIER (NVS) One in a series of design studies by the Tholian Shipyards intended to use computer simulations to explore the overall effectiveness of deploying attrition units on their NCA class of upgraded CWs. The Tholians neither had the resources nor national will to proceed to the construction phase and these series of ships existed only in the data banks of the Will. Note! The Pack the Tholians welded to the CW is shown intergated into the SSD rather than shown seperately as in R10. SSD modified Jan 2011.
This design envisioned a strike carrier variant using standard S-II fighters. While some on the design team thought that since most of the fighting would be behind webs, the Ph-2;s would prove more effective than a Disruptor. In the end, however, standard S-II's were used. The study proposed using an escort group of a CWE and a PCE.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.

(R7P.542) NEW AREA CONTROL SHIP (NACS) One in a series of design studies by the Tholian Shipyards intended to use computer simulations to explore the overall effectiveness of deploying attrition units on their NCA class of upgraded CWs. This one proposed using a squadron of either S-IV or S-V heavy fighters, and a squadron of S-II. A unique feature of the design was the pack. The need for additional crew spaces meant that the disruptors were removed (they would have blinded the Special Sensors in any case) and the space converted to crew quarters. Escort group was to have been a CWE and PCE. Note! The Pack the Tholians welded to the CW is shown intergrated into the SSD rather than seperately as in R10. SSD modified May 2011
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.

(R7P.543) NEW PF TENDER (NPF) One in a series of design studies by the Tholian Shipyards intended to use computer simulations to explore the overall effectiveness of deploying attrition units on their NCA class of upgraded CWs. This one proposed using a flotilla of Arachnid-Ps (which was be lived would be more useful behind the web of bases where it was felt most of their fighting would occur. A unique feature of the design was the pack. The need for additional crew spaces meant that the disruptors were removed (they would have blinded the Special Sensors in any case) and the space converted to crew quarters. Note! The Pack the Tholians welded to the CW is shown intergrated into the SSD rather than seperately as in R10. SSD modified May 2011

This one proposed using a squadron of S-IIP fighters, following the earlier use of them on both the NVS and the NACS combined with a flotilla of Arachnid-Ps. A unique feature of the design was the pack. The need for additional crew spaces meant that the disruptors were removed (they would have blinded the Special Sensors in any case) and the space converted to crew quarters. Escort group was to have consisted of a CWE and PCE. Note! The Pack the Tholians welded to the CW is shown intergrated into the SSD rather than seperately as in R10. SSD modified May 2011
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-7(6)Pu/2-4(3)P. EW=2. Can be converted in Y183 from a NCA for 5 EP plus the fighters. Counters for both the NDCS and 3NDCS are provided.

WAR CRUISER HULLS

(R7D.501) WAR CRUISER LEADER (CWL): The Tholians produced a few leader versions of their War Cruiser. The ships had increased Lab and power systems and allowed War Cruiser Squadrons to operate more effectively outside the Holdfast.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply. The CWL, like all war cruiser leaders is not included in the game at this time, but can be used with (303.5). Whenever three or more war cruisers are included in a Battle Force, one of them is assumed to be a CWL for purposes of Command Rating only. Including this ship also allows the Tholians to create Battle Groups. Group A is CWL+2xCW+3xPC. Group B is CWL+2xCW+3xDD. Counters for both are provided.

(R7M.502) DRONE WAR CRUISER (CWD) The Federation in an effort to confound and confuse the Klingons attempted to convince the Tholians to build Drone Bombardment Cruisers. The Federation even went so far as offer to supply at near no cost the drones and special sensor required by the ship. The Tholians rejected the concept out of hand citing both operational and logistical problems such a ship would produce.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 6-7[4]u/3-4. EW is 2. Can be converted in Y180 from a CW for 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.508) WAR CRUISER SCOUT ESCORT (CWSE): The Tholians drew up plans of their own for a Escort Scout Cruiser (based on information about the Federation and Klingon ships) and may have go so far as to actually produce one. Information regarding the building of such a ship are hazy and cannot be confirmed one way or another.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7 un /1-4. Command rating 6. Can be converted in Y179 from a CW for 4 EP; or from a CWS for 1 EP; or from a CWE for 3 EP. EW=3. A Counter is provided.

(R7D.509) FAST WAR CRUISER (CWF) While the Council of the Holdfast saw little need for a design of this type they never-the-less ordered plans to be drawn up for one. Data appears to confirm that one such ship was indeed laid down in the Tholian shipyard, and the ship completed in Y179.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 6-7F/3-4. Command rating 6. Can be converted in Y179 from a CW for 2 EP. A Counter is provided.

(R7D.510) FAST SCOUT CARRIER (CSVF) The Tholians at first could see no pratical use for a Fast Carrier Scout. After a number of Seltorian raids they changed their minds theorized such a ship would be useful in locating the whereabouts of the Seltorians. On the two occasions when it was used in "normal combat operations" it was escorted by a CWA and a DE.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7(8H)u/1-4(4H). Command rating 6. Can be converted in Y183 from a CSV for 2 EP. EW=2. Counters for the CSVF and the 3CSVF are provided.

(R7D.511) SCOUT PATROL CARRIER (SVP) Like most empires the Tholians were initially impressed with the concept of a Scout Patrol Carrier. Lacking sufficient hulls to build one from scratch they converted an exisiting Patrol Carrier nearing completion.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7(9)u/1-4(4). Command Rating 6. Can be converted from CW in Y182 cost is 5 EP plus the cost of fighters. EW=3. Counters for both the SVP and 3SVP are provided.

(R7P.512) FLOTILLA CONTROL SHIP (FCS) The Tholians at first were unsure if they needed to build such a ship. But the pressure of knowning that all the other races were in the process of fielding such ships changed their mind. Escort group consisted of a CWE and A DDE.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7(3)Pu/1-4(1)P. Command Rating 6. Can be converted from CW in Y182 cost is 5 EP plus the cost of fighters. EW=3. Counters for both the FCS and 3FCS are provided.

(R7M.515) MULTI-ROLE CRUISER (MRC): The Tholians came somewhat late to the concept of the HDW, but then decided to apply this same technology to a War Cruiser. Two Spider-IIIs were included for additional firepower.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-8(1)/4. Command rating 6. Can substitute one MRC for CW once per turn beginning in the spring of Y180. Cost is 6 EP +1 for the fighters. It is treated as an HDW, and can perform all the missions (except D) as outlined in (4H.0) Captain's Module P6 The Galactic Smorgasbord. A counter is provided.

(R7P.516) PATROL CARRIER (CVP): The Tholians impressed with the larger fighter squadron of the Patrol Carrier classes of the other races set out to field one of their own. Engineers first thought it would be simple enough to just increase the number of external bays. Computer models, however, showed that the additional stress on the hull would pull it apart. The existing interior shuttle bay was increased forcing other modifications the to hull. Finally in early Y182 a single ship was finished. It was assigned an escort group of CWA and PCA.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7(9)/1-4(4). Command rating 6. Cost is 7 EP. Can be substituted for a CW in SY182. Cost is 2 EP plus fighters. Can be converted from a CWV for 2 EP, or from a CW for 3 EP. Counters for both the CVP and the 3CVP a reprovided.

(R7D.517) FAST TACTICAL TRANSPORT (FTT): The Tholians, like all the races, found that re-supplying the fast and far reaching X-ships was a difficult task for their LTTs. Unlike most of the races, the Tholians, had even fewer X-Ships and certainly were not about to divert any of them to this task. Instead they began to covert one of their LTTs to a fast tactical transport. A number of designs were considered (including an unsuccessful attempt to squeeze in the larger warp engines they which they hoped to begin producing). Finally they design team suggested that by reducing the cargo hold by 33% and replacing the Phaser-3s would allow them to add the necessary reinforcing to weld a modified "pack" to the bottom of the ship without increasing the mass of the ship. The problems encountered forced the cancellation of this project after the single prototype was completed. The had a pair of special sensors which were intended to be used to aid in both locating the X-ships and enemy ships that needed to be avoided.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-7Fu/0-4. Command Rating 6. EW=2. Can carry 5 EP. Can build one per turn beginning in SY184. Build cost is 7 EP. Counts against both scouts and LTTs. A counter is provided.

WAR CRUISER HEAVY HULLS

(R7P.520) NEW HEAVY SCOUT (NHS) A never built design study that explored the possibility of using one of their "War Heavy Cruisers" to produce a heavy scout. When the prototype was destroyed during its initial tests the project was cancelled. Had the original design for an HCW proved workabel the Tholians would not have been able to porcude enough of them to warrant this variant.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-8u2-4. Can be built as a sustitute for CWH in Spring Y181. Cost is 10 EP. Can be converted from CWH in Spring of Y181 at a cost of 4 EP. EW is 4. A counter is provided.

(R7P.521) NEW HEAVY ESCORT CARRIER (NHE) A proposed but never built variant of the Heavy War Cruiser. After the disaster with the prototype the proposal was dropped. It is doubtful.that even had the design suceeded the Tholins would not have had either the ships or resources to fund this design.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 6-8n3-4. Can be convered from a CWH in Fall Y181 cost 1 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.525) FAST NEW DISRUPTOR CRUISER (FDC): The Tholians looked with great interest on the new fast cruisers deployed by the Federation. Convinced this type of ship would be of great use in providing advanced warning of pending Seltorian attacks they had designs hastily drawn up to convert a pair of these new heavy cruisers. Circumstances were such (the destrcuton of the prototype) cancelled plans. SSD revised Jan 2011.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-8(F)/4. Command rating 8. Can build one as a substitute for a CA in SY181. Cost is 8 EP (6 for the NCA +2 for the conversion). A counter is provided.

(R7D.526) FAST NEW PHOTON CRUISER (FPC): This design was the Photon variant of the FDC and like it was canclled after the prototype exploded during tests. SSD revise Jan 2011.

(R7P.570) LIGHT DISRUPTOR BATTLECRUISER (LDBC): This design and its near sister the LPBC were attempts by the Tholians to produce an even heavier version of their CW. The plan was to use a HCW (which was just entering its testing phase) and then weld a pack to the bottom of the ship. The resulting ship would have mounted battlecruiser firepower on a CW hull. Concern over the stress caused by the welding the pack to the ship and unable to add additional structural reinforcment over what had been added to the CWH/CHP along with the disastrous results of the HCW tests forced cancellation of the project. Resived SSD Jan 2011.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10-8/5-4. Can be converted in Y181 from a CW cost is 4 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.571) LIGHT PHOTON BATTLECRUISER (LPBC): This was to be the photon version of the LDBC. The ship, as was the case with the LDBC, was cancelled before production could begin. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a LDBC and no counter is provided. Revised SSD Jan 2011.

DESTROYER HULLS

(R7P.601) DESTROYER ESCORT (DE): The Tholians wanted a stronger escort then the PCE for their CVA. They turned to the DD and modified one in Y173. Unlike the PCE, it replaced the disruptors with 2 Ph-3s. Both shuttle bays were given ready racks. In Y176 it received a full Aegis rig.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-6n/2-3n. Command rating 5. Can be substituted for PCE beginning in Y173. A counter is provided.

(R7P.602) DESTROYER SCOUT (DDS): An experiment by the Tholians to field a more durable scout. Built in the Spring of Y176 by modifying a DD. The lack of DD hulls curtailed further conversions and available records indicate only a single prototype was produced.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 2-6/1-3. Command rating 5. EWP is 2. Can be converted from DD beginning in Spring of Y176. Cost is 2 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.603) MOBILE CARRIER (DDV): This ship was a follow on to the Black Widow. An experiment by the Tholians to field a larger and more durable carrier. Built in the Spring of Y176 by modifying a DD. The few DD hulls available curtailed further conversions and it would appear that the only a single example of this ship was built.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-6(4)/3. Command rating 5. Can be converted from DD beginning in Spring of Y176. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of fighters. Counters for both the DDV and 2DDV are provided.

(R7P.604) IMPROVED (WAR) DESTROYER (DW): The Tholians with the help of the newly arrived Neo-Tholians modified a Destroyer to this improved design in late Y179. Modifications included replacing the 2 existing warp engines with 3 of the smaller PC engines, improved crew spaces and the addition of APRs. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a DD and no counter is provided.

(R7P.605) SMALL SURVEY SHIP (SSR): Since their arrival in this galaxy the Tholians looked for a way to explore the area outside of the Holdfast. Their PCs proved too small, but after the DD was produced they converted one to this design. It was slightly more capable of exploring areas around the Holdfast then their PCs. The design was not completely successful and the Tholians never built another one.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-6u/1-3. Command rating 5. EWP is 2. One DD can be converted to SSR anytime after Fall of Y119. Cost is 4 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.606) ENHANCED DESTROYER (EDD) Tholian engineers used computer programs to examine the possibilitiy of producing a extrapolated Neo-Tholian destroyer collar to see if it could be adapted to their Destroyer. The project went no further than the computer studies which showed the idea was not workable.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-6/3. Can be converted in Y180 from a DD for 1 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.607) BATTLE DESTROYER (BDD) The Tholians were well pleased and fairly well severed by the installation ofthe pack they welded to their War Cruiser to make a New Heavy Cruiser. Consequently their ship designers and engineers worked out a plan to build a smaller version of the pack and install it on a DD. They produced a prototype of the design but found that its movement cost went up and the ship turned out to be slower than they wanted. They tried one other approach to solve the problem (see R7D.607A) below. In the end it did not work out and the ship was left as originally built and assigned to defend bases.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-6/3. Command rating 5. Can be converted from DD beginning in Spring of Y181. Cost is 2 EP. Cannot Raid. A counter is provided.

(R7D.607A) BATTLE DESTROYER (BDD-A) In an attempt to improve the performance of the BDD the ship designers proposed install one of the small warp engines that the Neo-Tholians had on the DDs and PCs. Though none of these ships survived the Neo-Tholians had plans which the Tholians used. Unfortunately the computer simulations showed the ship would not be able to handle the stress and the plans were dropped. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a BDD and no counter is provided.

(R7M.610) GUNFIGHTER DESTROYER (GDD): Following the lead of the other races, the Tholians produced a Gunfighter using a DD hull. The ship was underpowered and not subject to shock.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 7-6/3. Command rating 5. Can be converted from DD beginning in Spring of Y176. Cost is 2 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.615) HEAVY WAR DESTROYER (HDW): The success of their MRC led the Tholians to follow the lead of the other races and build a Heavy War Destroyer. The need for DD hulls to maintain thier patrol duties put off the first one until the Spring of Y182. A pair of S-IIIs were included for additional firepower.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 6-7(1)/3-4. Command rating 6. Can be converted from DD beginning in Spring of Y182. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of fighters. A counter is provided.

PATROL CORVETTE HULLS

(R7P.801) WEB SPINNER (WS): Following a year of almost continual attacks staged by the Klingons, the Tholians began a search for a ship which could supplement the rare and vulnerable Web Tenders. Finally in Y169 a improved PC was selected for conversion. Two web spinning Spiders-Is (later upgraded to Spider-IIIs) were part of the design. The ship first entered service in late Y170. It is a casual carrier. This ship does not show up in F&E, and no counter is provided.

(R7D.802) ENHANCED PATROL CORVETTE (EPC) In parallel with the study being done on the destroyer, Tholian engineers also looked at providing a collar for the Patrol Corvette. As was the case with the destroyer the concept was not workable and the project as dropped.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-4/2. Can be converted in Y180 from a PC for 1 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.803) BATTLE PATROL CORVETTE (BPC) Concurrently with work on the BDD the Tholians began work on a ship that they called a War Patrol Ctuiser. This ship was a stanard PC with the small half-size packed welded to it. The single ship completed was lke its bigger sister too slow. so the Thloians looked around for a to improve its speed. Their first attempt was to use the larger engines employed on the DD and the POL. This idea was deemed too costly, a second attempt was made (see R7D.803A below) and following its failure the concept was cancelled.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-4/2. Command rating 3. Can be converted from PC beginning in Spring of Y181. Cost is 2 EP. Limited to speed 5. Cannot Raid. A counter is provided.

(R7D.803A) BATTLE PATROL CORVETTE (BPC-A) Using the same idea as the BDD-A the Thoilan engineers planned on installing one of the small warp engines orginally designed for the Neo-Tholian DD and PC. The computer results were the same as the BDD-A and showed the ship would be unable to handle the stress and the plans were quietly shelved. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a BPC and no counter is provided.

(R7M.810) PATROL ESCORT CARRIER (PVE): After the introduction of the S-I fighter the Tholians begin looking for a way to operate these from ships. A PC was chosen and modified with an internal bay. The bay took up so much room there was no room for supplies. Boarding parties were reduced to make room for the pilots and deck crew. Further plans for a ship class were cancelled. The ship was used for pilot qualifications and deck crew training. Hard pressed by the Klingon attacks in late Y173, it was teamed with a PCE and sent battle.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4(3)/2(1). Command rating 3. Can convert one from a PC in Fall of Y173. Cost is 2 EP plus the cost of fighters. Counters for both the PVE and 2PVE are provided.

(R7M.811) PATROL LIGHT CARRIER (PVL): In Y177 as the Holdfast under went a series of furious attacks the PVE was fitted with the normal exterior bays of the Black Widow class carriers. It was returned to service in early Y178, just after the arrival of the 312th Battle Squadron, and saw very limited duty.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4(6)/2(3). Command rating 3. The PVE can be upgraded to the PVL in Spring of Y178. Cost is 1 EP plus the cost of fighters. Counters for both the PVL and 2PVL are provided.

(R7M.815) GUNFIGHTER PATROL CORVETTE (GPC): Not satisified with the Gunfighter Destroyer the Tholians tried converting a PC to this design concept. Somewhat more successful when used behind webs, the ship is not subject to shock.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-4/2. Command rating 3. Can be converted from PC beginning in Spring of Y177. Cost is 2 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.820) MULTI-ROLE CUTTER (PMR): It is not known where this idea came from, or who first proposed the concept of attaching a small addition, (whose systems could be quickly and easily reconfigured) to the rear of a ship. Similar in nature to the Tholian Cargo Pack, but smaller, these were mere "blisters" hard welded to the ship. The Tholians, however, were one of the first, and the only race to continue production beyond prototype models. Their first such ship being completed in early 163.

(R7004) FRIGATE (FF): The success of mounting a disruptor on the PC, led the Tholians to begin work on an enlarged version of this ship. Using some features of the PC+ and the DPC, the first FF was completed in Y113. Only 2 of these ships were built when production was shifted to the larger DD. It is unknown how long these ships were in service and whether they survived long enough to receive a snare refit. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a PC and no counter is provided.

(R7006) PHASER FRIGATE (FFP): It is unknown if the first FF was completed in Y113 with disruptors or phasers. As only 2 of these ships were known to have been completed, it is possible that the phaser version was completed or converted at a later date. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a PC and no counter is provided.

(R7012) PHOTON FRIGATE (PFF) While it was expected that any surviving frigates may have been equipted with photons, no ships of this type were ever confirmed. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a PC and no counter is provided.

(R7007) SCOUT FRIGATE (FFS): When the first Tholian scouts began to appear in Y125, it was unclear if they were variants of the PC, or the FF, or both. It was speculated that one of the FFs may have been temporarily converted to a scout at this time.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 2-4u/2. Command rating 3. EWP is 1. Can be converted from PC beginning in Fall of Y125. Cost is 1 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7003) GUNBOAT (GUN): The Tholians introduced their corvette classed ship (which they referred to as a gunboat) in Y184. Work on this ship started in Y182, but was held due to a debate over how to arm it. A compromise was reached and the gunboats reached the fleet shortly after the Selts arrived. The Tholians decided on only 1 disruptor and a heavy phaser armament, allowing the ship to better fight behind web. In F&E terms this ship is identical to a PC, and no counter is provided.

Note: Due to the small size of this ship, a type-VI drone does 4 pts. of damage rather than 2, and any defensive fire systems treat this ship as if it was a PF.
Note: This ship can land and take off from a planet using all landing systems.

SEMI-X-SHIP & X-SHIP HULLS

(R7M.X50) SEMI-ADVANCED DISRUPTOR CRUISER (XDC): The Tholians had been working for some time on improved technology. In Y182 they were ready to test their work. A new heavy cruiser was selected and converted. The design originally called for a Web Caster but some sources indicate that the ship may have actually had an additional disruptor. No additional ships were built as the Tholians began production of full fledged X-ships the following year
RULES NOTE: This is a semi-X ship. It uses only the following X-rules. (XC2.21) Acceleration; the following parts of (XD6.0) Fire Control: [XD6.393, XD6.633]; (XD13.0) Aegis Fire Control; (XE2.43) Rapid-Pulse; (XG2.0) Control of X-Ships; (XG9.41) Minimum Crew; (XH5.1) Batteries and (XH6.1) Phaser Capacitors.

(R7M.X51) SEMI-ADVANCED PHOTON CRUISER (XPC): A design for a photon variant of the semi-advanced cruiser existed and it is known was in fact tested. Most sources believe it was the XDC with Photons replacing the disruptors. As with the disruptor variant production never proceeded.
RULES NOTE: This is a semi-X ship. It uses only the following X-rules. (XC2.21) Acceleration; the following parts of (XD6.0) Fire Control: [XD6.393, XD6.633]; (XD13.0) Aegis Fire Control; (XE2.43) Rapid-Pulse; (XG2.0) Control of X-Ships; (XG9.41) Minimum Crew; (XH5.1) Batteries and (XH6.1) Phaser Capacitors.

(R7P.590) ADVANCED LIGHT CRUISER (CWX): Designed at the same time as the DDX, the CWX was intended to give the Tholians the ability to field complete X squadrons. Lack of resources limited the production of this ship. It is known that at least three of them were built.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 10/5. Can be built in Y185. Cost is 10 EP. A counter is provided.

CAPTURED ROMULAN SHIPS

(R7D.901) CAPTURED ROMULAN SNIPE (TSNA): This ship was captured in the initial assault on the Holdfast in Y173. The Tholians quickly refitted it for their use. However, the ship could not be adapted to pass thru webs, nor could the Tholians operate the cloak. In the end, the ship was of only minimal use to the Tholians.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 3-4/1-2. Command rating 3. Can be converted from SNA after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.902) CAPTURED ROMULAN SNIPE-B (TSNB): A damaged SNB that was abandoned in late Y173 was taken in hand for use by the Tholians. Like all non-Tholian ships it cannot move thru web. The Thloians could not get the cloak to operate and it was removed. The ship did participate in a couple of raids outside the Holdfast.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-5/2-3. Command rating 3. Can be converted from SNB after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.903) CAPTURED ROMULAN BATTLEHAWK (TBH): This ship was also captured during the Romulans initial Romulan attack on the Tholians. The ship cannot operate the cloak nor move thru web. The Tholians employed it mostly to reinforce webs, although was used a couple of times outside the Holdfast to attack Romulan convoys.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 4-5/2-3. Command rating 6. Can be converted from BH after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.904 CAPTURED ROMULAN BATTLEHAWK LEADER (TBHB): The Tholians used the one ship of this type to lead a small squadron of captured ships on short raids against nearby Romulan territority. Like all captured Romulan ships, it had no cloak and was not capable of moving thru web.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-6/3. Command rating 7. Can be converted from BHB after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.905) CAPTURED ROMULAN WAR EAGLE (TWE): This ship (being the first Romulan ship captured) presented problems for the Tholians. At first, the Tholians, unable to understand the Cloak Technology nor figure a way to "unwrap" the ship from the Plasma Weapon they could not operate were prone to simply scrap it. Finally an enterprising engineer produced a plan of removing the giant weapon without totally dismembering the ship and the conversion went forward.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 5-6/3. Command rating 8. Can be converted from WE after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7D.906) CAPTURED ROMULAN KING EAGLE (TKE): The Tholians were never able to capture a King Eagle but had drawn up plans to convert one in the case they had. Unlike the captured War Eagle, the King Eagle conversion called for the use of distruptors. This leads many to speculate that it was intended to operate outside the Holdfast. The ship, had it been captured and converted, would have no cloak and would not have been capable of movement thru webs.
F&E FACTS: For those players wishing to add this ship to their F&E games the following would apply.
Counter Factors are 8-9/4-5. Command rating 9. Can be converted from KE after capture. Cost is 3 EP. A counter is provided.

(R7P.F7) SPIDER-V (S-V): A third variant of the heavy fighter. This fighter first produced in Y179 was identical to its near sister the S-IV, except it mounted a pair of Ph-2 (FA) in place of the disruptors. It was used on bases that supported WEB. There is no record (at this time) of any S-Vs serving on ships although it seems entirely possible.
